We would like to know how we can improve our service to you and how you perceive our surgery and staff.
To help us with this, we are setting up a virtual patient representation group so that you can have your say. We will ask the members of this representative group some questions from time to time, such as what you think about our opening times or the quality of the care or service you received. We will contact you via email and keep our surveys succinct so it shouldn’t take too much of your time.
We aim to gather around a hundred patients from as broad a spectrum as possible to get a truly representative sample. We need young people, workers, retirees, people with long term conditions and people from non-British ethnic groups.
If you are happy for us to contact you occasionally by email please click the link below to open the sign-up form and complete all the fields.

St Johns House Medical Centre has recently formed a Patient Reference Group. The inaugural meeting was held in July 2019 with a further meeting held in September and another planned for early October.
The group will act as a ‘bridge’ between the practice and its patients, representing patients’ views, acting as the patient voice and helping them to understand the challenges faced by the practice and in the NHS. We hope that they will be able to promote good health and preventative medicine and encourage and support activities within the practice.
The election of Chair and secretary is to be addressed at a later date and at present the roles are being carried out by Dr. Burger and Sarah Baker, practice manager.
Meeting – 18th July 2019
Dr. Burger provided some background around the challenges in recruitment that the practice has faced over the last few years. However, over the last 6 – 12 months, we have had a successful recruitment campaign and are delighted to welcome additional doctors, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and an additional pharmacist, to the clinical team. Discussion surrounded the roles of Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) and Clinical Pharmacists, and the ways in which practices need to diversify in order to meet the increasing demands placed on general practice.
Discussion continued around the appointment system. We have recently conducted a piece of work to re-design the appointment system and several changes have been made. We now offer 25% of appointments bookable on-line.
We have a new telephone system which is cloud based with queueing and recording facilities. The ‘queue buster’ facility has now been added, which is proving to be a good feature. Patients are invited to accept a call back and the phone system will keep the patient’s place in the queue and automatically ring back when he/she reaches the top of the queue.
Dr. Burger explained about Engage Consult, which is becoming increasingly popular with patients. It is an on-line communication facility on which patients can leave a message up until midday and receive a reply the same day.
Meeting 5th September 2019
At this meeting it was decided that the election of Chair and secretary from the group should be re-visited at a later date.
Terms of Reference for the group were discussed and drafted.
Consideration towards frequency of meetings was made and it was thought that, initially, the group would meet monthly.
A quorum of 7 group members, including the Chair, should be available for a meeting to take place.
Objectives – short, medium and long term objectives to be decided and the agenda item to be carried forward to the next meeting.
Next meeting to be held on Thursday 3rd October 2019
